Neurodevelopment Flavors: A Playful Take on Diversity

Recently, a parent shared with me their family's history of neurodevelopmental disorders. With a whimsical twist, they remarked that they knew their child would be "neurospicy," just not the specific flavor!

What an incredible way to approach the situation!

I've curated a flavor list to correspond with different neurodevelopment disorders. Take a look and let me know what flavor you identify with, if any!

  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD): All Dressed

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD): Jalapeno Cheddar

  • Intellectual Disability (ID): Salt & Vinegar

  • Learning Disorder (LD): Barbecue

  • Communication Disorder: Sour Cream & Onion

  • Motor Disorder: Sea Salt

  • Cerebral Palsy: Sour Cream & Bacon

  • Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD): Dill Pickle

  • Rett Syndrome: Ketchup

  • Down Syndrome: Honey Barbecue

  • Fragile X Syndrome: Flamin’ Hot

  • Williams Syndrome: Classic

Of course, this post is all in good fun! While these disorders can pose challenges, finding moments of joy and humor can be a source of strength for parents and clinicians alike. Cheers to embracing the diversity of neurodevelopment in a unique and light-hearted way!
